After a long day of watching the games, our little Brody was so very tired....

Asleep next to Daddy on the couch...

Pumpkin Whoopie Cakes

Martha Stewart had a segment on her show highlighting how to make these Pumpkin Whoopie Pies. So.... I was inspired to make them last night...and for those of you who know me I don't really like to cook. I took pictures of various stages of the cakes being made. And YES they are eatable, Yummy and very easy to make!

Here is all the stuff to make the cake part..

When all the ingredients are mixed together!

Scooping the mixture onto the cookie sheets with a cookie scoop...
Martha really stressed how they should all be the same size. I think I did great for my first time!

The scoop that I used.. could have probally used a bigger one...

Cooking in the oven..

Cream Cheese Filling... so very yummy!

Using a frosting bag to put the frosting in between the cakes!

The finished Cakes cooling off in the fridge.. Yes you serve them cold which makes them even more yummy!

Below is the link for the recipe!!!

A Little Boy and His New Toy

We bought Brody his 1st Happy Meal this past week and it came with a Matchbox car. After eating his chicken nuggets and fries, I gave Brody the little red car that came with the meal. This was the first time he had ever seen or played with a Matchbox car. He loves to spin the wheels, to carry it when he crawls and to make it move along the floor. The following pictures capture the first few moments of playing with the car... so sweet!

The car straight out of the package and into Brody's hands...

How does this thing work?

Daddy do you want to play with my car?

Look I have a new treasure!

Vroom Vroom Vroom

Splish ... Splash... Brody is taking a bath!

One of the best features of our new kitchen is the over-sized deep sink. We have been using it to give Brody a bath. His favorite part is to splish and splash the entire sink. He also likes to reach for anything that is within his reach. He loves bath-time!

Just getting into the sink...

Here Mommy let me help you...

I am ready to give myself a bath...

Look how big my hair can get!!!!

So cute!!!

09/22/1922 - 07/03/2009

In July, Grandma Betty passed away....

Grandma you are missed each and everyday!
I Love You!

Here is the poem that I shared at her funeral....

The Dash Poem
by Linda Ellis 1996

I read of a man who stood to speak,
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following with tears.
But he said what mattered most of all,
Was the dash in between those years.

For the dash represents, all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And how only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters most is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough,
To consider what is true and real.
And always try to understand,
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more,
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read,
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
And how your spent your dash?

Let's Go Niners!!!

If I have to live in California, let me live close to the 49'ers! Week One: 1-0

To celebrate not living in Cowboy country anymore, thank goodness, we get to proudly display our red and gold! Let's go Niners!

Monterey, CA: The Aquarium, the 17 Mile Drive & Pebble Beach

Santa Clara is like the Coppell of the Bay Area, we are right in the middle of No Cal. We have spent a couple of Saturdays in Monterey touring the Aquarium, walking through the streets of Monterey and driving along the coast of this pennisula through Pebble Beach.

Monterey is about an hour away from our apartment. The drive takes you through the foot hills, through the Dole farmlands, and along the Pacific coast. Both weekends we have left our apartment with the temperature being around 85 degrees and by the time we make it to Monterey is around 62. I have had to put on a jacket... :)

Currently, the Aquarium has on display a 4ft Great White Shark, Sea Otters, and Sea Horses. We have seen penguins, felt starfish and just watched as the fish swam by the glass.

Brody's ride through the Aquarium....

Looking at the Sea Gull... Brody loves looking at the marine life.

Can you find Nemo and Dorie?

Hi Dorie....

the Kelp Forest Exhibit with a school of sardines

After we left the Aquarium, we headed west to the coast to drive "the 17 mile drive" through Pebble beach. We have been to this area, twice, in the late afternoon just as the sun was setting.

The Lone Cypress...

I love the way the sun was coming through these trees....

I love the way the sun rays look in the photo..

Here it is again because this place is just so cool!
